Natural Remedies for Acne

First off, lets give you a little background about what acne is:

Acne is a build up of dead skin cells, bacteria, sweat, and oil in your pores. The reason that they get inflamed is because of the bacteria that is eating away at the cells in your pores. I know, it's a little gross.

Aloe Vera

Aloe vera has some antibiotic properties, and many medical studies have shown this to promote wound healing and make your skin nice and soft and smooth.

Lemon Juice

Lemon juice helps tone your skin as well as help heal it from pimples because of the vitamin C that it contains. Vitamin C is widely know in the medical community, as well as in the general population to help boost your immune system and fight off infections.

Oatmeal

Oatmeal, among the others listed, is one of the common natural remedies for acne. It's used to absorb the oil from your skin (perhaps because of the fiber in it- no medical professional has been able to answer this question when I ask), and leave it feeling smooth.

Mint

Mint leaves your face feeling fresh and clean because of the menthol in it, but it doesn't really do a whole lot as far as cleaning out and disinfecting your pores.

Nettle

Tea Tree Oil

Tea trea is on of the many popular natural remedies for acne. You dilute it (water it down) and then apply it to where ever the pimple is.

Tea tree works by killing bacteria...which is the whole reason you have acne in the first place. Bacteria and well as dead skin cells and other things, are building up in your pores. The bacteria causes the acne to be inflamed...which is a tell-tale sign that you have acne.

Tea tree oil is a popular home remedy for acne. It is an essential oil that is diluted and applied topically to acne lesions.

Baking Soda

A very cheap cooking ingredient that most people have in their homes already, baking soda can be used as a great scrub. The purpose of a scrub is to exfoliate the skin, removing dead skin that can eventually clog pores and lead to acne spots.
To start off, you'll want to mix a small amount of baking soda with some water for form a paste. Baking soda is very effective as a scrub, so you want to be sure to be extra careful when applying it to your face. Gently massage the paste into your skin for ten to fifteen seconds. Then rinse the baking soda off, and pat your face dry with a clean towel.

Apple Cider Vinegar

Though most people that use vinegar to treat acne use the apple cider form of vinegar, you can also use plain old regular vinegar. Regardless of which type you use, vinegar can be very helpful with it comes to clearing up acne. It can kill off acne causing bacteria, balance your skin's pH, and absorb extra oil on your skin.
